Handle With Care Ranch & Holistic Center was founded by Shannon Waters-Mitchell, a U.S. Navy Gulf War veteran, cancer survivor, experienced equestrian professional, and longtime wellness educator whose work is grounded in resilience, practical support, and meaningful human–horse connection.
Shannon brings together professional training, lived experience, and a deeply participant-centered approach. She understands that people arrive with different histories, comfort levels, goals, and challenges—and believes every person deserves to be met with respect, clarity, and care.
Whether someone is meeting a horse for the first time, seeking a calmer relationship with their body and nervous system, rebuilding confidence after a difficult chapter, or looking for movement and wellness practices that feel accessible rather than intimidating, Shannon creates a welcoming, low-pressure place to begin.
Her work integrates equine-assisted learning, relationship-based groundwork, yoga and breath practices, functional movement, coaching, holistic wellness education, and resilience-based programming. The goal is not perfection or performance. It is to help people develop confidence, self-awareness, connection, practical tools, and a stronger sense of possibility.
